Defying the stimulus : acquisition of complex onsets in Polish

چکیده
1.1 Token frequency For completeness, this section demonstrates that relying on token frequency instead of type frequency does not provide a way out for the lexicalist hypothesis. Figure 7 shows the association between accuracy and tokenfrequency measures, analogous to the figures above for the type-frequency measures. The results are similar, albeit less promising: token segmental bigram frequency is not positively associated with accuracy.

Complex onsets in child language acquisition
This paper examines the emergence of complex onsets in Brazilian Portuguese (BP). As with other languages, complex onsets in BP appear at a later stage in language acquisition. A very common strategy used by children when acquiring complex onsets is to present a single consonant. Thus, a word such as [pɾ]ato is typically transcribed as [p]ato for ‘prato’ plate. In this paper we suggest that pho...
متن کاملThe test-retest reliability of the onset of core and vasti electromyographic activity while ascending and descending stairs in healthy controls and patellofemoral pain patients
AbstractBackgroundentity. It is hypothesized to result from abnormal patellar tracking caused by altered motorcontrol. Deficit in neuromotor control of the core may be a remote contributing factor to thedevelopment of PFP. Application of reliable EMG measures would be helpful to handle thistheory. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest reliability of thecore and v...
متن کاملA Dynamical System Approach to Research in Second Language Acquisition
Epistemologically speaking, second language acquisition research (SLAR) might be reconsidered from a complex dynamical system view with interconnected aspects in the ecosystem of language acquisition. The present paper attempts to introduce the tenets of complex system theory and its application in SLAR. It has been suggested that the present dominant traditions in language acquisition research...
متن کاملModeling Doubly Marked Lags with a Split Additive Model
In child phonology marked structures are frequently acquired first in relatively unmarked contexts. Four examples of this can be observed in the acquisition of Dutch syllable structure as reported by Levelt et al. (2000), a representative example of which is given in (1): onsetless syllables must initally be open (stage 3), as must syllables with complex onsets (stage 5); syllables with complex...
متن کاملThe Interlanguage of Persian Learners of Italian: a Focus on Complex Predicates
This paper aims at investigating the acquisition of Italian complex predicates by native speakers of Persian. Complex predication is not as pervasive a phenomenon in Italian as it is in Persian. Yet Italian native speakers use complex predicates productively; spontaneous data show that Persian learners of Italian seem to be perfectly aware of Italian complex predicates and use this familiar fea...
